La Factoría

This bar definitely has a great atmosphere. It has different rooms and each room has its own bar. Music is always on point here; can be loud but you’re still able to talk. It’s a tourist area, prices are according to that. Tip: there’s an area most people don’t know about. Have fun looking for it.

Hosting our wedding reception at La Factoría was hands-down one of the best decisions we made for our big day in Puerto Rico. We rented out the upstairs space, complete with food and an open bar for our guests—and it was everything we hoped for and more. The venue itself is incredibly unique, with a cool, eclectic layout and different areas for guests to hang out and explore. The walk-out patios were a favorite, offering incredible views of the vibrant nightlife and charming streets of Old San Juan. It gave our reception a fun, energetic, and authentically Puerto Rican vibe. The food was delicious, the cocktails were on point (no surprise coming from one of the world’s best bars!), and the staff was kind, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly all night long. If you’re planning a destination wedding or private event in Puerto Rico, I highly recommend checking out La Factoría. It’s stylish, memorable, and a truly special place to celebrate with the people you love.

So at La Factoria, there are so many different spaces to join in on between quiet and cozy, to straight up lit. We being on the quieter side, found a tiny space that was kind of hidden behind a door that when we opened it, we thought it was a break area, but the bartender warmly invited us in. After asking us a few questions about what type of mood we were in for cocktails, she made us two completely different, custom cocktails that we both just LOVED! There are lots of candles in the space for soft lighting, limited bar seats. It felt like a cave that I actually didn't mind being in!

La Factoría has the reputation that it has for very good reason!!! It IS the epicentre of fun, excellent vibes, superb live music and salsa dancing with people at all different levels. We went after finishing a late dinner on a Saturday night, and the vibes that we were hoping for - we received with open arms! There was no long line to get in, and it was definitely crowded inside. Getting drinks wasn’t too crazy of an ordeal — but most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough, it was SUCH an amazing time!!

It's probably the best cocktail bar I have ever been to. Great vibe. I feel like you're back in the Hemingway error. The bartender was awesome and talented. Made me a paper plane and my wife and lavender mule. Excellent. Highly recommend this place

Oh my god, La Factoría with live salsa completely blew my mind! The vibe, the dancing, the music — it’s all just incredible. Definitely a place you can’t miss. The cocktails are excellent, and it’s such a cool experience discovering hidden little bars behind different doors. It does get really hot inside, but honestly, I had an amazing time and would go back in a heartbeat.

La Factoría is hands down the most fascinating nightlife experience in Old San Juan - a labyrinth of vibes where each doorway reveals another unexpected dimension! What looks like a simple corner bar from the outside unfolds into a series of interconnected spaces, each with its own distinctive personality. The genius of La Factoría is how it seamlessly caters to whatever mood you're in. Want intimate conversation? There are discreet, dimly lit corners perfect for quiet talks or romantic encounters. Feeling energetic? Follow the music to find lively rooms where people dance with abandon. The cocktail program here is seriously impressive - expert bartenders craft drinks with professional precision and creative flair. I was particularly struck by how the drink menus subtly shift between the different bar areas, with each space offering something that complements its unique atmosphere. The crowd is wonderfully diverse - a mix of locals and visitors, creating an authentic Puerto Rican nightlife experience rather than a tourist trap. Security is well-handled, maintaining a safe environment without imposing an oppressive presence. What makes La Factoría special is its choose-your-own-adventure quality. You can start with sophisticated cocktails in the front bar, then drift through various rooms until you find yourself dancing to pulsing beats in a basement space you'd never expect was there. This place deservedly earned its reputation as one of the world's best bars. It transforms throughout the night, starting relatively calm in early evening and building to a vibrant party atmosphere as the hours progress. You can literally bar-hop without ever leaving the building!

This was, hands down, our favorite spot in San Juan. We went both in the morning and at night, and both experiences were amazing. The bartenders were incredibly kind and professional — they prepared our cocktails right in front of us, based on personal recommendations, and really made us feel special. The cocktails were absolutely fantastic. We tried several different ones, and each had its own unique and delicious flavor. The atmosphere is that of a stylish, elegant bar — I’ll share some photos! Whether you’re looking to relax after a long, hot day or wind down after a night out, this is the best bar in Old San Juan. Highly, highly recommended!
